Darrah Cloud's new play spotlights late fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen.

The Off-Broadway premiere of the new play House of McQueenwritten by Darrah Cloud and directed by Sam Helfrich, begins performances August 19 prior to an official opening September 9 in the new theatrical venue, The Mansion at Hudson Yards.

Luke Newton, best known for playing Colin in Netflix’s Bridgerton, portrays late designer Lee Alexander McQueen with Side Show Tony nominee Emily Skinner as his mother Joyce McQueen.

The two artists are joined by Catherine LeFrere (HAPPY!), Cody Braverman (Leopoldstadt), Tim Creavin (Sleep No More), Fady Demian (The Terminal List), Matthew Eby (American Horror Story), Joe Joseph (The Band’s Visit), Denis Lambert (Tammy Faye), Margaret Odette (Sex/Life), Spencer Petro (The Bisley Boy), Jonina Thorsteinsdottir (Survival of the Thickest), Sam Dash (Quantico), James Evans (The Mega-Brands That Built America), Krystal Riggs (Richard II), Jackie Sanders (Oh, Mary!), and Chris Thorn (Death of a Salesman).

The new play takes audiences through Lee’s life, from his early days as an emerging designer, to later building one of the most important fashion houses in the world, and ultimately his tragic passing. The famed fashion designer died of suicide in 2010 at the age of 40.

Intimate relationships with key figures in the designer's life—including mentor Isabella Below—are explored utilizing a highly produced landscape with floor-to-ceiling LED panels designed to shift environments.

The production also has scenic design by Jason Ardizzone-West, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Robert Wierzel, sound design by G Clausen, video and projection design by Brad Peterson, hair, wig, and makeup design by Tommy Kurzman, choreography by Benjamin Freedman, dialect coaching by Deborah Hecht, intimacy coaching by NJ Agwuna, and casting by Jamibeth Margolis.

Jason Kaiser is the production stage manager with production management by Aurora Productions and general management by Form Theatricals, Reed Ridgley, and Anthony Francavilla.

Newton has previously been seen on stage in the West End in The Book of Mormon and Neil LaBute’s The Shape of Things. He recently wrapped production on the upcoming sci-fi thriller White Mars, opposite Lucy Hale.

Skinner's numerous Broadway credits also include Suffs, The Cher Show, Prince of Broadway, Jekyll & Hyde, The Full Monty, Dinner at Eight, James Joyce's The Dead, Billy Elliot, and New York, New York.
