Elton John to Pen Autobiography | Playbill

News Elton John to Pen Autobiography The Tony-winning composer will look back on his life for Henry Holt & Company.
Rock and Broadway composer Elton John will pen his autobiography for Henry Holt & Company, according to The New York Times.

Written with critic Alexis Petridis, the currently untitled tome, billed as a “no-holds-barred account of Elton's life,” is scheduled for release in 2019.

In a statement Tony winner John said, “I’m not prone to being a nostalgic person. I’m often accused of only looking forward to my next gig or creative project. It’s come as quite a surprise how cathartic I am finding the process of writing my memoirs. As I look back, I realize what a crazy life I have had the extreme privilege of living.”

John’s Broadway credits include the musicals The Lion King, Aida, Billy Elliot The Musical and Lestat. He won the 2000 Tony Award for Best Original Musical Score for Aida.
