The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is expanding its awards program for the 2026 season, celebrating theatre educators, administrators, alumni, and volunteers within school theatre arts internationally.

New honors include the Reba R. Robertson Award, presented in partnership with the Children's Theatre Foundation of America and celebrating excellence in high school theatre education; the Thespian Alumni Impact Award, recognizing former Thespians whose adult achievements exemplify the lifelong value of school theatre; the EdTA Research Excellence Awards, honoring outstanding scholarship, publication, and creative inquiry in theatre education; the EdTA Emerging Theatre Educator Award, recognizing graduate students, pre-service teachers, or early-career educators who demonstrate innovation, service, and impact in advancing theatre education; and the EdTA Teaching Artist Award, honoring teaching artists whose work in schools or communities reflects creativity, commitment, and significant contribution to theatre education.

The Educational Theatre Association is an international non-profit that serves as the professional association for theatre educators. EdTA is the parent organization of the International Thespian Society—an honor society for theatre students that has inducted more than 2.5 million Thespians since 1929. Additionally, EdTA operates the Educational Theatre Foundation, the organization's philanthropic branch dedicated to broadening representation and increasing access.
