Edinburgh Festival Fringe Playbill Pick Police Cops: The Musical will play an encore run at London's Southwark Playhouse next year, with performances beginning March 1, 2024, and continuing through April 20. The musical previously played the London venue's Borough stage, but will move to the larger Southwark Playhouse Elephant for the 2024 run.
The complete cast from the earlier London and Fringe runs will be back for the encore, including show creators (and stars) Zachary Hunt, Nathan Parkinson, and Tom Roe; and Melinda Orengo and Natassia Bustamante.
We know what you're thinking: Is it possible to make the police funny? Hunt, Parkinson, and Roe have wisely crafted their story around not actual police, but the titular Police Cops. In their telling, this group starts out as the real deal but soon go rogue and morph into a vigilante group more akin to The Avengers—but way stupider. This motley crew beats the bad guys via acrobatic '80s dancing and babies on bungee cords.
This new musical, featuring songs by Ben Adams (Eugenius! The Musical), comes from comedy group Police Cops, with group creators Hunt, Parkinson, and Roe writing and starring.
The production features music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Rich Morris; sets and lighting by Andrew Exeter; sound by Charlie Smith; music direction by Gabriel Chernick; and casting by Pearson Casting.
