Broadway Jersey Boys star Daniel Reichard is channeling Mr. Rogers in a new cabaret show he's bringing to the Laurie Beechman Theatre October 18 and 19. Titled Hello, Neighbor: Songs We Grew Up To for a Grown-Up World, the concert evening will celebrate the "enduring wisdom of our childhood music," according to press notes.
Attendees can expected Reichard's thoughtful re-interpretations of "It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood," "Rainbow Connection," "Rubber Duckie," and more as he explores the idea of a never-ending growing up process. Reichard has drawn inspiration from such childhood TV favorites as Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, The Muppet Show, and Sesame Street.
Reichard created the role of Bob Gaudio in the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys, and has also starred in Candide, Radiant Baby, The Thing About Men, Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas, and Forbidden Broadway. He's also a founding member of vocal group The Midtown Men, comprised entirely of former Jersey Boys stars. As a solo concert artist, Reichard is a veteran of Lincoln Center, 54 Below, Birdland Jazz Club, Joe's Pub, Ars Nova, and more.
