Regional News World Premiere of Dael Orlandersmith's New Age Opens March 25

Milwaukee Repertory presents the new work from the Pulitzer Prize finalist.

Dael Orlandersmith's New Age officially opens March 25 at Milwaukee Rep after beginning previews March 22. The world premiere of the Pulitzer finalist's work runs through May 1. 

Following four women at different phases in their lives, the play centers on their insecurities, legacies, and sexualities. 

The cast features non-binary performing artist Blair Medina Baldwin as Liberty, Lisa Harrow as Cass, Courtney Rackley as Candy, and Delissa Reynolds as Lisette.

Directed by Jade King Carroll, the production includes set design by You-Shin Chen, costume design by Mieka van Der Ploeg, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger, original music and sound design by Lindsay Jones, dramaturgy by Janice Paran, casting by Dale Brown Casting, and stage management by Martie Barthel.

Milwaukee Rep also presented the world premiere of Orlandersmith's Antonio's Song/I Was Dreaming of a Son this year. The theatre has previously produced Until the Flood and Yellowman, for which Orlandersmith became a Pulitzer Prize in Drama finalist.

New Age is presented by Christine Symchych and Jim McNulty, with executive producers Croan Foundation as well as Mara and Craig Swan, joined by associate producer Krista Kile.

The new play was originally commissioned through the John (Jack) D. Lewis New Play Development program.
