Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical is created by Jordan Ross, Lindsey Rosin, and Roger Kumble, based on Kumble’s 1999 cult-hit film of the same name, produced by Neal Moritz. The jukebox score features songs by Goo Goo Dolls, No Doubt, R.E.M., Boyz II Men, Ace of Base, Jewel, ‘NSYNC, and more, including ‘Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve and “Colorblind” by Counting Crows, two songs beloved by fans in the film version.
This concert, filmed in December at The Bourbon Room in Los Angeles, California, is directed by the musical’s original director Lindsey Rosin and Kenneth Ferrone, with camera direction by Jake Wilson. Music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements are by Zach Spound with casting by Henry Russell Bergstein.
The show first debuted on the West Coast in 2015, followed by an encore engagement in 2016. In 2017, Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical opened with a twice-extended Off-Broadway staging at (le) Poisson Rouge. A cast album from that production was released in 2019, followed by the launch of a national tour and a U.K. premiere. Later this year, the show will make its international debut in Australia, at Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre.
