Christin Eve Cato's Sancocho, previously produced by Vision Latino Theatre Company as part of Destinos, the fifth annual Chicago International Latino Theater Festival, will make its Off-Broadway debut next year courtesy of Latinx Playwrights Circle, WP Theater, and The Sol Project.

Directed by Rebecca Martinez (Miss You Like Hell, Theatre for One: Here We Are), the limited engagement will run March 11–April 9, 2023, at the WP Theater. Opening night is March 23.

Sancocho follows two Puerto Rican sisters, Renata and Caridad, who clash over cultural divides, unearth old wounds, and reveal long-buried secrets, as they confront the realities of their father's declining health.

Originally developed at Latinx Playwrights Circle, the play was also selected as a featured play on #NewPlayExchange and was developed at Ingenio Festival and Playwrights Center Core Apprentice Workshop.

Cato's other works include American Made and The Mayor of Hell's Kitchen Presents: A Time Traveling Journey Through NYC's Wild West.

Tickets are available at WPTheater.org.
