The Times Square Alliance unveiled its newest season of “Show Globes,” large-scale Broadway snow globes decorating the theatre district, November 3. The annual tradition pays homage to the creativity of Broadway designers and the power of live theatre.
The Aladdin Show Globe is the newest addition to the tradition. Designed and created by Ros Coombes, Jennifer Kramer, Mary Hamrick, and BB Props, the new Globe presents the golden Cave of Wonders where the magic lamp is first discovered.
Both the Lion King and Wicked Globes return as bedrock members of the group; designed by Peter Eastman, Carolyn Wong, and Jeanne Koenig, the Lion King Globe recreates the rising sun of the "Circle of Life," with a central Rafiki wax figure courtesy of Madame Tussaud's. Wicked's Globe honors the iconic costumes of Elphaba and Glinda, with design by Edward Pierce, Stephen Davan, Kelly Pooler, F&D Scene Changes, Brenbri Properties & Four Horsemen, Amanda Whidden, Wicked Worldwide, Joe Dulude II, Neil McShane, and Craig Aves.
Curated in partnership with Serino Coyne, the globes will be on display at the Broadway Plaza in Times Square between 44th and 45th streets through December 26.
