Colorado’s Central City Opera has announced its 2017 Summer Festival lineup. The fifth oldest professional opera company in the country, Central City will be celebrating its 85th anniversary this coming season.
The Summer Festival will run July 8 through August 6 and will include two mainstage productions: Georges Bizet’s Carmen and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Così fan Tutte. The major productions will debut two new company directors; Carmen will be under the direction of Jose Maria Condemi, and Così fan Tutte will be under the direction of Stephen Barlow.
The summer program will also include performances of Benjamin Britten’s The Burning Fiery Furnace, Douglas Moore’s Gallantry, and Amy Beach’s Cabildo at smaller venues around Central City including the St. James United Methodist Church and Williams Stables.
