International News Cast Complete for London Production of Mother Courage, Starring Josie Lawrence Tony Kushner’s translation of Brecht’s anti-war drama will play The Southwark Playhouse beginning November 2.

Casting is now complete for the new production of Mother Courage and Her Children, which will play The Southwark Playhouse this fall. The London theatre will present Tony Kushner’s translation of the Bertolt Brecht war drama with direction by Hannah Chissick.

Performances of Mother Courage and Her Children will begin November 2 for a run scheduled through December 9. Opening is set for November 6.

Josie Lawrence, as previously announced, is tapped to star in the title role—a woman who pulls her cart through a land ravaged by war, attempting to make profit from the ruins that surround her.

Joining Lawrence will be Laura Checkley (Gone With The Wind), Ivy Corbin (Three Sisters), Celeste de Veazey (The Bureau of Lost Things), Rosalind Ford (These Trees Are Made of Blood), Ben Fox (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Commitments), Jake Phillips Head (professional debut), Shiv Jalota (The Grapes of Wrath), Julian Moore-Cook (Our American Cousin), Nuno Queimado (Jesus Christ Superstar, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), David Shelley (Windows), and Phoebe Vigor (Jane Eyre).

“I first read Mother Courage when I was an 18-year-old drama student and immediately fell in love with the play,” Lawrence said in an earlier statement. “Now I feel ready to play her. It’s a major tick on my theatrical bucket list.”

The creative team also includes set and costume designer Barney George, lighting designer Robbie Butler, and sound designer Patrick Ball. Music is by Duke Special arranged and supervised by David Randall. Danielle Tarento is producer.
