Performances began January 9 at Second Stage Theater for the world premiere of Greg Pierce’s play Cardinal, starring Veep Emmy nominee Anna Chlumsky, Happy Endings star Adam Pally, and Girls Emmy nominee Becky Ann Baker.
Faced with an uncertain future, a Rust Belt town gets a makeover in the new drama about big ideas and a changing America. Sweat director Kate Whoriskey directs the Off-Broadway production. Completing the cast are Alex Hurt (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Stephen Park (Aubergine), and Eugene Young (Alice in Slasherland).
Cardinal officially opens January 30.
The production features sets by Derek McLane, costumes by Jennifer Moeller, lighting design by Amith Chandrashaker, and sound design by Leah Gelpe.
