What with the mixed reception that greeted his Capeman, Paul Simon may be finished with Broadway for awhile, but Broadway isn't finished with him. Varese Sarabande Records will release an album of Simon's pop classics -- all recorded by Broadway and Off-Broadway notables.
Here's the scheduled line-up:
Jason Graae: "Scarborough Fair / Mrs. Robinson"
Drew Sarich: "Bernadette" (The Capeman)
Jason Raize: "The Sounds of Silence"
Guy Haines: "Bookends / Old Friends"
Lauren Kennedy: "Homeward Bound"
Marcia Mitzman Gaven: "Bridge Over Troubled Water"
Liz Larsen: "Keep The Customer Satisfied"
Alet Oury: "Red Rubber Ball"
Sal Viviano: "So Long Frank Lloyd Wright"
Tammi Tappan: "I Do It For Your Love"
Amanda McBroom: "Still Crazy After All These Years"
Jose Llana: "America"
Christiane Noll: "Kodachrome"
Sally Mayes: "Feelin' Groovy / At The Zoo"
Jane Krakowski: "Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover."
Produced by Bruce Kimmel and arranged by Lanny Meyers, "Broadway Sings The Best of Paul Simon" is due for release Sept. 8. For information call (800) VARESE-4.
The Simon recording is only the latest in a number of all-showtune solo CDs for Jekyll & Hyde's Christiane Noll and Blood Brothers' Helen Reddy.
