A publicist for Brandy Norwood has confirmed in a statement to the Associated Press that the star is out of hospital and on the road to recovery. As reported earlier, the Chicago actor was rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles after falling ill on a flight bound for New York City.

According to the AP statement, Norwood's rigorous schedule, including concerts and personal appearances, took a toll on the singer. She is now at home resting.

Grammy winner Norwood made her Broadway debut as Chicago’s Roxie hart in April 2015. She returned to the role earlier this year when the national tour of the Tony-winning revival played The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Norwood has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide. She initially rose to fame with her multi-platinum, self-titled debut album featuring the hit single “I Wanna Be Down.” Her record The Boy Is Mine features the best-selling duet of all time. She also starred in her own sitcom, Moesha, and made history in Disney’s television film Cinderella as its first black princess, starring alongside the late Whitney Houston. Norwood received a 2014 NAACP Image Award for her role as Chardonnay on BET’s The Game.

Norwood was scheduled to appear at the Atlanta Ultimate Women's Expo June 3, and is booked to play at the LA Pride Festival on June 11.
