Broadway News Brandon J. Dirden Will Join Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter in Waiting for Godot on Broadway

Jamie Lloyd's revival will reunite Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure stars Reeves and Winter this fall.

Casting is now complete for Jamie Lloyd's new staging of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, which will begin previews September 13 at the Hudson Theatre ahead of a September 28 opening night. The limited engagement will continue through January 4, 2026.

As previously reported, the revival from the Sunset Boulevard director will reunite Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as Estragon and Vladimir, respectively. The show also stars Michael Patrick Thorton (A Doll's House) as Lucky.

Newly announced for the production is Obie and Theatre World Award winner Brandon J. Dirden, who will play Pozzo. Dirden has been seen on Broadway in Take Me Out, Skeleton Crew, All The Way, and Jitney. He was also seen as Boy Willie in the Off-Broadway revival of The Piano Lesson. On screen, he is known for his portrayal of Agent Dennis Aderholt in The Americans, and he will appear in the upcoming season of Katori Hall’s P-Valley.

Completing the Waiting for Godot cast will be Zaynn Arora and Eric Williams, who will share the role of A Boy, with understudies Jesse Aaronson and Franklin Bongjio.

The upcoming revival will mark Reeves' Broadway debut. Winter previously appeared on Broadway as a child, playing John Darling in the 1979 Sandy Duncan-led Peter Pan.

The creative team will also include set and costume designer Soutra Gilmour, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designers Ben and Max Ringham, hair and makeup designer Cheryl Thomas, and casting directors Jim Carnahan and Liz Fraser. The production stage manager is Johnny Milani, and Veronica Lee is the stage manager.

Premiering in 1953, Waiting for Godot centers on two men waiting for the titular Godot, engaging in a number of discussions in the meantime. The work has become a theatrical classic. On Broadway alone, the upcoming revival will be the play's fifth major staging.

The Jamie Lloyd Company, ATG Productions, Bad Robot Live, and Gavin Kalin Productions are producing. 101 Productions, Ltd. is general manager.
