Original star and Tony-winning songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda will return to the lead role of Usnavi on Dec. 25. The run ends 7 PM Jan. 9, 2011.
The Lion King veteran Jackson ("Benny") has been with the project since its developmental days in 2002.
Conceived by Miranda, with a libretto by Quiara Alegria Hudes, In the Heights is set in the Latino community of Washington Heights, at the top of Manhattan, where friends, lovers and family address questions of ambition and identity in a world on the brink of transition.
Thomas Kail (Lombardi) directs. Choreography is by Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler.
The playing schedule for In the Heights is as follows: Tuesdays and Sundays at 7 PM, Monday, Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM, with matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 2 PM. There will be added performances Dec. 22 at 2 PM and 8 PM, and Dec. 29 at 2 PM and 8 PM. There will be no performances Dec. 24, Dec. 25 at 2 PM, Dec. 31, and Jan. 2 at 7 PM.
