Shakespeare's The Rape of Lucrece is part of the Shakespeare in Washington festival in which many troupes in metro D.C. present Shakespeare works.
Washington, D.C. writer Kimball is the author of five other full-length plays: Lulu Fabulous (which sold out and extended at Phoenix Theatre), Jupiter Zoom, MAY 39th (a sold-out hit at the Capital Fringe Festival under the direction of Kathleen Akerley), Safeword (an O'Neill semifinalist featured at the Kennedy Center Page-to-Stage Festival), and Dirty Heart (written while Kimball was at the The MacDowell Colony on a playwriting fellowship).
Kimball is the founder of The DC Dollies & The Rocket Bitch Revue, through which she produced Jupiter Zoom.
Director Sarah Denhardt (also a Dolly Rocket) helms Rape of Lucrece.
The cast will include Abby Wood (another Dolly Rocket), Denman C. Anderson, Theo Hadjimichael, Betsy Rosen, Colin Smith, Parker Dixon and Robert Lavery. Sound designer is Aaron M. Forbes. Set and costume designer is Lea Umberger.
Shakespeare's The Rape of Lucrece opens Feb. 13. Performances play to March 11 at the Clark Street Playhouse, 601 S. Clark Street, in the Crystal City neighborhood of Arlington, VA.
