NextGen Spotlight, a benefit concert directed and hosted by Jelani Remy that will shine the spotlight on the next generation of talent onstage and behind the scenes, will be presented September 18 at 7 PM at Chelsea Table + Stage in Manhattan.
Broadway Cares’ NextGen Advocates will present the benefit, which will also be offered online. Remy, who currently plays Mayor Goldie Wilson III/Marvin Berry in Broadway's Back to the Future: The Musical, will share the stage with up-and-coming Broadway stars and other theatre professionals to be announced at a later date.
Remy previously appeared on Broadway as Eddie Kendricks in Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations and made his Broadway debut as Simba in Disney’s The Lion King.
The NextGen Advocates are young professional ambassadors committed to supporting the work of Broadway Cares. They strive to reach a diverse community of donors and build a sustainable foundation for the annual grants made to the Entertainment Community Fund and more than 450 social service organizations in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
