A couple of weeks back Playbill shone a spotlight on SoftFocus, a new theatre company that treats theatre like a startup—applying lean, tech industry principals to producing new works on micro budgets. This week, SoftFocus is launching their second world premiere: The Workshop, a new play by Torrey Townsend starring Tony-nominated actor and director Austin Pendleton.
In The Workshop, Broadway vet Pendleton stars as Ward Stein, a university professor of theatre. Set in a small classroom in New York City, Stein and the class watches on as one of the student’s prepares to unveil their latest work.
Knud Adams directs the new play, with performances scheduled to run July 27 through August 13 at the Bank Street Theater, located at 124 Bank Street, Manhattan.
Rounding out the cast are Tim Platt, Cesar J. Rosado, Claire Siebers, Laura Lassy Townsend, and Christopher Dylan White.
Tickets are priced between $18–$29. For more information visit Softfoc.US.
