Shakespeare’s Globe Artistic Director Michelle Terry will play the title role in Hamlet and Adam in As You Like It. The two plays will run in repertory as part of her inaugural season at the helm of the London institution.
Terry is an Olivier Award winner for her performance in Nina Raine's play Tribes. She was named the new artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe last summer and began her tenure in the fall.
The gender-bending production of Hamlet is directed by Federay Holmes and is scheduled to play April 25–August 26. As You Like It, also directed by Holmes, will begin performances May 2 and run through August 26.
Additional casting for both productions: Catrin Aaron will play Horatio in Hamlet and Phoebe in As You Like It; James Garnon will play Claudius in Hamlet and Audrey in As You Like It; Colin Hurley will play the Ghost in Hamlet and Touchstone in As You Like It; Bettrys Jones will play Laertes in Hamlet and Orlando in As You Like It; Richard Katz will play Polonius in Hamlet and Silvius in As You Like It; Jack Laskey will play Fortinbras and others in Hamlet and Rosalind in As You Like It; Nadia Nadarajah will play Guildenstern in Hamlet and Celia in As You Like It; Pearce Quigley will play Rosencrantz in Hamlet and Jaques in As You Like It; Shubham Saraf will play Ophelia in Hamlet and Oliver in As You Like It; Helen Schlesinger will play Gertrude in Hamlet and Duke Frederick in As You Like It; and Tanika Yearwood will play Marcellus in Hamlet and Amiens in As You Like It.

As previously reported, the Globe will also stage Shakespeare's Othello this summer starring Moonlight star André Holland in the title role alongside Tony and Oscar winner Mark Rylance as Iago with direction by Claire van Kampen. The 2018 lineup also includes a repertory offering of The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew, and Twelfth Night.
