Casting has been announced for the London production of Taylor Mac’s Hir, directed by Nadia Fall. Mac’s subversive comedy, which played a hit run at Playwrights Horizons last year, is set to debut in the U.K. at the Bush Theatre.
Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Once) will play Isaac, Griffyn Gilligan (Teddy Ferrara) will play Max, Ashley McGuire (Shopping and F***ing, The Suicide) will play their mom Paige, and Andy Williams (The 39 Steps, War Horse) will play her husband Arnold.
In Hir, ex-Marine Isaac gets home to find his family in a state of war. His mom Paige has stopped looking after the house and her ailing husband, who, after suffering a stroke, has toppled from his perch as head of the household. Another thing: Isaac’s sibling Max is now Maxine.
Performances will begin June 15 ahead of a June 20 opening. The limited engagement is scheduled to play through July 22.
The London creative team is made up of designer Ben Stones, lighting designer Eliott Griggs, sound designer Elena Peña, and fight directors Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown of RC-Annie Ltd.
The Bush Theatre is located at 7 Uxbridge Road, Shepherd's Bush, London. For tickets and more information visit BushTheatre.co.uk.
