Performances are now underway for the world premiere of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical at Jolla Playhouse. Tony Award winner LaChanze (The Color Purple), Ariana DeBose (Hamilton), and Storm Lever (Freaky Friday) each play the disco icon at various stages in her life.
Directed by Jersey Boys Tony winner Des McAnuff, the bio musical has been a major box office draw since previews began November 7. With much of the run already sold out ahead of its November 19 opening night, La Jolla has just announced a second extension for Summer through December 24.
