Adam Driver's Arts in the Armed Forces will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a reading of Sam Shepard's True West. The event will take place November 12 at the American Airlines Theatre.
The reading will star Driver himself (Mrs. Warren's Profession, Star Wars), Michael Shannon (Long Day's Journey Into Night), Peter Friedman (Ragtime, Succession), and Marylouise Burke (Fish in the Dark); Tony winner Sam Gold will direct.

The special performance precedes Roundabout Theatre Company's forthcoming revival of the play starring Ethan Hawke and Paul Dano, which will open in January 2019 (also at the American Airlines). Burke is also appear in the staging, helmed by James Macdonald.
The performance is free for veterans, men and women currently in service, and for military family and caregivers. Civilians can also request tickets with a $250 donation at AITAF.org.
A Q&A will follow the performance.
Arts in the Armed Forces was founded by Driver and Joanne Tucker and seeks to bring theatre to those serving in the military. Driver served in the Marine Corps and found theatre to be a useful outlet for expression.
Driver himself is slated to return to Broadway in 2019 in Lanford Wilson's 1987 drama Burn This, starring alongside Keri Russell. In 2016, the two appeared in a reading of Stephen Belber's Tape for Arts in the Armed Forces.
