In Happy Days, Wiest plays Winnie, buried up to her waist and sinking into the earth. The production marks a return to Beckett’s work for Wiest, who appeared in the U.S. premiere of Footfalls earlier in her career. The actor says that she waited 30 years to play Winnie, a character she describes as “the Hamlet for actresses.”
