Broadway News What Is Dear Evan Hansen? Tony-Winning Musical Was Clue on Jeopardy Watch the clip from the syndicated game show.

The Tony-winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen, which continues to play to sold-out crowds at the Music Box Theatre, was a clue on the November 8 broadcast of the syndicated game show Jeopardy.

Host Alex Trebek read this clue to the three contestants: “Ben Platt won the 2017 Tony for his performance as a high school senior coping with a classmate's death in this musical.” Watch the clip from the long-running TV program above.

Tony winner Ben Platt will offer his final performance November 19. Dear Evan Hansen will welcome Noah Galvin in the title role beginning November 21. Following Galvin's run, Hello, Dolly! star Taylor Trensch will take over beginning mid-January 2018.

After a successful regional premiere and hit Off-Broadway run, Dear Evan Hansen began previews on Broadway November 14, 2016, ahead of a December 4 opening night.

The original musical features a score by the Tony- and Oscar-winning songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight, A Christmas Story), a book by Tony winner Steven Levenson (Masters of Sex), choreography by Danny Mefford (Fun Home), and direction by multiple Tony nominee Greif (Rent, Next to Normal, If/Then).
