Spamilton, the new satirical musical by Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alessandrini, opened September 8 at Off-Broadway's Triad cabaret. Inspired by the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton, the show both parodies and celebrates the landmark musical, along with much of the rest of today's Broadway.

The show began performances July 19 and originally was scheduled for 18 performances only. It has been extended through October 30.
Dan Rosales plays the role based on Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and the character of Alexander Hamilton. The cast also features Juwan Crawley, Chris Anthony Giles, Nicholas Edwards and Nora Schell, along with a roster of guest stars, including Christine Pedi.
The production also is spoofing Hamilton's #Ham4Ham discount ticket line, which regularly overflowed into Times Square. Spamilton has initiated a 10-cent ticket lottery, dubbed #Spam4Roosevelt (based on FDR on the American dime; versus Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill), being offered before select performances of Spamilton. Participants must come in person to the Triad (158 West 72nd Street) 40 minutes prior to curtain time to enter their names for the chance to see that evening’s performance. Thirty minutes prior to the show, names will be chosen at random by Alessandrini himself. Limit one entry per person and up to two tickets per winner. Tickets are subject to availability.
Miranda saw and gave thumbs-up to the spoof August 10. He tweeted a photo of himself with Rosales and wrote, “I laughed my brains out.”
Alessandrini has been satirizing musicals for 30 years. His long-running musical revue,Forbidden Broadway, poked fun at an array of Broadway shows, including Miranda's previous hit, In the Heights. See a video below:
The Spamilton creative team includes Gerry McIntyre (choreography), Dustin Cross (costume design), Richard Danley (music direction) and Michael Cassara, CSA (casting director). The show is produced by John Freedson, Christine Pedi, and David Zippel .
