What happens when you take a current Broadway star and the opening number of a musical that hasn't been on Broadway since the '60s? Find out in the latest R&H Goes Pop video, featuring Kyle Selig singing "The Sweetest Sounds."

The tune hails from the 1962 musical No Strings, the only show in which Richard Rodgers wrote both the music and lyrics (following the death of his longtime collaborator Oscar Hammerstein II). The song was later used in the 1997 TV adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.

Recent offerings from R&H Goes Pop have included Derek Klena performing "Younger than Springtime" from South Pacific and Jelanni Aladdin and Matt Doyle doing a same-sex version of "We Kiss in the Shadow" from The King and I.

Selig currently plays high school jock Aaron Samuels in the Tina Fey-penned musical adaptation of Mean Girls. The actor will soon star alongside a new Queen Bee: fellow Jimmy Awards winner Reneé Rapp, who makes her Broadway debut in the musical later this year.
