The 2019 Olivier Awards, hosted by Jason Manford, were presented April 7 at Royal Albert Hall. The ceremony featured performances from all the musicals nominated in the Best New Musical and Best Musical Revival categories: Come From Away, Company, Fun Home, The King and I, Six, Tina–The Tina Turner Musical, and Caroline, or Change. Disney’s The Lion King, celebrating its 20th anniversary in the West End, also performed.
Come From Away and Company were among the top winners of the night, earning four awards each along with the new play The Inheritance. Additional winners included Caroline, or Change headliner Sharon D. Clarke and Tina's Ike Turner, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.
Check out several of these performances below. Playbill will continue to update this story as additional footage is posted.
The play comes on the heels of a broader cultural conversation about Dahl's work and the prejudice that was embedded in many of his most beloved stories.
