Ars Nova has released a video featuring a song from the first production of its season: Andrew R. Butler's sci-fi musical Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future. Watch Butler, who also stars in the world premiere, and his co-star Stacey Sargeant perform "100 Years of Subterranean Blues" from the show in the video above.
In Rags Parkland, set 250 years in the future, humans are built in black market labs, and Mars is a forced labor camp where underground outlaws are planning a rebellion. The new musical is created by Butler and directed by Jordan Fein (Singlet).
The cast is completed by Rick Burkhardt, Tony Jarvis, Jessie Linden, and Debbie Christine Tjong.
Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future will begin performances September 25, ahead of an October 8 opening at Ars Nova on 54th Street.
