Composer Matt Gould and lyricist Carson Kreitzer bring a soaring score to the new musical Lempicka. Even before the show’s world premiere earlier this year, its anthemic “Woman Is” has found breakout popularity online and in the cabaret/concert circuit. Check out the latest cover of the song—performed by The Voice finalist Brooke Simpson, Christine Noel, and Uri Grey—above.

The video comes from Michael Korte, creator of the viral Hamilton/Beyoncé mashup #Ham4Bey, who frequently features Broadway artists on his pop and musical theatre-influenced YouTube channel.

In the musical, the song closes out the first act as the artist Tamara de Lempicka comes to terms with a reignited sexual and creative passion, sparked by a rapidly developing relationship to her new muse—a free-spirited prostitute who inhabits the Parisian art scene.

Wicked alum Eden Espinosa took on the title role in the musical’s world premiere at Williamstown Theatre Festival in July, with Bright Star Tony nominee (and fellow former Elphaba) Carmen Cusack as Rafaela and The Great Comet director Rachel Chavkin at the helm. A developmental lab is set to take place later this year.
