News Vesturport Theatre Group and Robin de Levita Hope to Bring Mad Alice, Love the Musical to the U.S. Vesturport Theatre Group, led by Gisli Örn Gardarsson, and Robin de Levita have joined forces for international theatrical productions specifically aimed at Broadway, The West End and other first-class theatrical territories. The company will operate offices in Europe and in New York City.

The team's first American collaboration was the U.S. premiere of Metamorphosis, a physical re-imagining of the Franz Kafka classic that recently played a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

The company hopes to bring existing Vesturport productions, including Romeo and Juliet and Love the Musical and the upcoming The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyeski and Mad Alice, to the United States. They also plan to develop new projects together.

About the new collaboration Robin de Levita said in a statement, “I am inspired to work on the acclaimed Vesturport productions that I love, and I look forward to collaborating on new work for the theater and other venues.”

Gisli Örn Gardarsson added, "Our joint venture feels like a healthy next step for Vesturport to expand its activities internationally.  With Robin joining our team we can now investigate the many exciting opportunities with more confidence.”

In April the Iceland-based Vesturport Theatre Group, which has established itself as one of Europe’s most inventive theatre and film companies, will receive the prestigious Europe Theatre Prize. Robin de Levita is a Tony Award-winning Broadway producer who has also produced extensively in London and throughout Europe.
