News Tony-Winning Musical Raisin Returns to New York Area The musical version of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun plays the Astoria Performing Arts Center.

Raisin, the stage musical adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry’s groundbreaking work A Raisin in the Sun, returns to New York City in a new revival at Astoria Performing Arts Center through May 27.

Featuring a book by Robert Nemiroff and Charlotte Zaltzberg, music by Judd Woldin, and lyrics by Robert Brittan, Raisin won the 1974 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Dev Bondarin directs a cast that includes Warren Nolan, Jr., Brandi Knox, Sarita Amani Nash, Ebony Marshall-Oliver, Chinua B. Payne, Cartreze Tucker, Greg Horton, Marcie Henderson, Joi Danielle Price, Billy Lowrimore, Shabazz Green, Tony Perry, Aaron Casey, Chris Gwynn, Vanessa Robinson, Alicia Thomas, and Maia Bedford.

The creative team also includes Darius Smith (musical director), Tamrin Goldberg (choreographer), Jeannipher Pacheco (costume designer), Lawrence E.
