Theatre at the Center’s production of the Tony Award-winning 1985 Broadway musical Big River, which features a score by late country musician Roger Miller, begins previews September 14 in Munster, Indiana.
James Romney and Jonathan Butler-Duplessis co-star as Huck and Jim, respectively, in the musical adaptation of Mark Twain’s American classic that is set to officially open September 17 for a run through October 15.
TATC’s artistic director Linda Fortunato directs and choreographs. William Hauptman authored the book.
The cast of Big River also includes Jason Richards, Bret Tuomi, Kyle Quinlivan, Matt Edmonds, Johanna McKenzie Miller, Liz Chidester, Garrett Lutz, Aaron Mitchell Reese, Adhana Cermone Reid, Camille Robinson, Steven Romero Schaeffer, and Caitlin Cavannaugh.
Big River has music direction by Bill Underwood, scenic design by Ann Davis, costume design by Brenda Winstead, wig design by Kevin Barthel, lighting design by Guy Rhodes, sound design by Michael J. Patrick, and prop design by Brittney O’Keefe.
Big River premiered on Broadway in 1985, winning seven Tony Awards, including Best Book, Best Score, and Best Musical.
