Tom McGowan assumes the role of Sipos in Roundabout Theatre Company's She Loves Me on Broadway beginning May 10. He will replace original company member Michael McGrath, who departed the revival May 8 for personal reasons.
McGowan’s Broadway credits include Casa Valentina, Wicked, Ivanov, Chicago and La Bête 1991.
Following an extension announcement, She Loves Me is set to play through July 10 at Studio 54. The classic musical comedy began previews February 19 and officially opened March 17. The production, directed by Scott Ellis and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, stars Byron Jennings, Laura Benanti, Zachary Levi, Gavin Creel and Jane Krakowski. Musical direction is by Paul Gemignani; orchestrations are by Larry Hochman with dance arrangements and incidental music by David Krane.
She Loves Me tells the story of two parfumerie clerks who, unbeknownst to each other, are corresponding romantically. She Loves Me features a book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and music by Jerry Bock, based on a play by Miklos Laszlo.
The cast also features Nicholas Barasch and Peter Bartlett, as well as ensemble members Cameron Adams, Alison Cimmet, Justin Bowen, Preston Truman Boyd, Benjamin Eakeley, Sara Edwards, Michael Fatica, Gina Ferrall, Jenifer Foote, Andrew Kober, Laura Shoop and Jim Walton.
