A musical adaptation of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants may soon take the stage. Scott Delman of Blue Spruce Productions has picked up the theatrical rights from production company Alcon Entertainment and book packager Alloy Entertainment, according to Variety, and will serve as lead producer.
No word yet on a creative team or production timeline. The deal stipulates that both Alcon Entertainment and Alloy Entertainment can serve a co-producers and be a part of the musical’s development.
The bestselling young adult series by Ann Brashares—and subsequent film adaptions—follow a group of four friends who, despite distance, remain close through a pair of shared jeans. The 2005 movie and 2008 sequel starred Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, and Blake Lively.
