Arbus is perhaps best remembered for his recurring role as psychiatrist Major Sidney Freedman on "M*A*S*H." He will star with Diane Landers in the piece, written by daughter Doon Arbus. Directing is another daughter, Arin Arbus, while a third daughter, Amy Arbus, acts as an artistic advisor. Completing the family circle is Mariclare Costello Arbus, Allan's wife and the mother of Arin. (Allan's first wife was internationally famous photographer Diane Arbus, who died in 1971, a suicide.) Allan Arbus plays a man begin interviewed about his famous friend, who has recently died. During the course of the exchange, the man must examine his feelings toward the deceased and the impact his late friend had on his life. Doon Arbus wrote the play some 30 years ago. Arin Arbus, speaking to Playbill On-Line, said the play was not autobiographical, but a work of fiction.
