Sydney Lucas has joined the cast of AMC’s new drama series The Son, according to Deadline. The Fun Home star and Tony nominee joins Sam Neil (Peaky Blinders) who will headline the new show, as well as Henry Garrett, Zahn McClarnon and Paola Nunez.
The Son, which chronicles the rise and fall of a Texas family, is based on the book by Philpp Meyer, with a script by Meyer, Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy. Lucas is reportedly tapped to play Jeannin McCullough, the tomboy granddaughter of the charismatic and successful patriarch, played by Neil. The show will follow his story – raised by Native Americans and born on the day Texas gained independence, he earned the nickname “First Son of Texas.“
The Son is set to premiere in 2017.
