Mathew Knowles and Je'Caryous Johnson have announced they are currently developing Survivor: The Destiny's Child Musical, about the girl group that launched the careers of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams.

Knowles (former Destiny's Child manager and father of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles) says the musical will be told through his perspective, stating, “I want to pull back the curtain. I feel it’s time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see, and feel the victories and failures that I’ve had as a husband, father, and manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams—those of mine and others.”

Knowles acted as manager of the group until their split in the mid-aughts. He went on to manage Beyoncé throughout the start of her solo career until the two parted professional ways in 2011.

Johnson, whose recent stage productions include the Snoop Dogg- and Tamar Braxton-led Redemption of a Dogg and Set It Off Live, added, “It is my mission to tell the stories of our legends and cement their legacies in the history of our world, but this one is very dear to me. As a native Houstonian, I have a special affinity for Destiny’s Child because we are from the same city, and it is one that breeds greatness.”

Although no official dates have been announced, the production is eyeing a 2020 premiere in Houston.
