The troupe would be "dedicated to producing limited Broadway runs of classic American plays" with the hopes of luring television and film stars for eight to 12-week runs. "Our ultimate goal is to film them, so these plays can be preserved and possibly broadcast," Maureen Van Zandt told the trade mag. "We'll do a short run on Broadway, and the cast will commit to filming it."

She previously founded the With Out Papers theatre company in 2001 and will serves as artistic director to Renegade. She looks to follow suit of her previous productions of Clifford Odets' Golden Boy with classics by Tennessee Williams, Eugene O'Neill and Arthur Miller and hopes to eventually present newer works.

Producer Keneally has produced Good Vibrations, The Last Night of Ballyhoo and Buried Child on Broadway as well as Driving Miss Daisy. Lightstone joined Keneally on Good Vibrations.

Steven Van Zandt, a longtime member of the E Street Band who tours with Bruce Springsteen, currently appears on "The Sopranos" as Silvio Dante. His TV co-star Michael Imperioli ("Summer of Sam") has also ventured into presenting stageworks when he founded Studio Dante in 2003 with his wife Victoria Imperioli to "house progressive new plays in a setting inspired by the grand architecture and design of traditional 19th century venues."

Studio Dante — which currently plays home to Dark Yellow — has previously produced Late Fragment , Baptism by Fire, Ponies and Henry Flamethrowa.
