Pretty Woman welcomed the Best in Show winner of the 2019 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at the Nederlander Theatre February 13. King, the wire fox terrier, celebrated his win with a walk-on roll in the Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance musical.
Based on the 1990 film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, Pretty Woman is a modern Cinderella story. A businessman (Andy Karl) hires an escort (Samantha Barks) to spend the weekend with him, but before long, the two learn that their connection goes beyond a simple transaction. The show features a book by the late Gary Marshall and J.F. Lawton, who together wrote the screenplay for the original film.
The Broadway production, directed by Jerry Mitchell, opened August 16, 2018, after beginning previews July 20.
