The children’s chapter books chronicle the story of the Baudelaire orphans and their nefarious uncle, Count Olaf. After their parents die in a fire, they are entrusted to the murderous Count, who attempts to steal their inheritance. And with each of the 13 books in the series, the three children find a new relative to take them in, only for Count Olaf to kill them and re-capture them. The books have sold over 65 million copies worldwide in 41 different languages.
The series will total 26 episodes in three seasons—two episodes per book.
In addition to his stage work, Harris is best known for playing Barney Stinson on the long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother, though he started out in the business as a child actor playing Doogie Howser on the show about a precocious kid doctor.
