The New Group presented a one-night-only benefit reading of Larry Kramer’s The Destiny of Me June 25, commemorating the playwright’s 83rd birthday and New York City Pride. Trip Cullman directed the presentation at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, which featured an introduction by Angels in America playwright Tony Kushner.
The cast featured Mark Ruffalo as Ned Weeks, Lee Pace as Benjamin, Ellen Barkin as Rena, Eric Bogosian as Richard, Gideon Glick as Alexander, and Josh Hamilton as Dr. Thomas Hamilton. Edie Falco read the stage directions.
