Dear Evan Hansen celebrated its first year on Broadway with a special fan day performance on December 10. The audience was filled with fans who won free tickets for the anniversary performance.
Following the show, First Lady of New York Chirlane McCray joined Tony Award-winning book writer Steven Levenson, Tony Award-nominated director Michael Greif, and the cast onstage to commemorate the event with a special proclamation from the City of New York.
The original Broadway production of Dear Evan Hansen officially opened at the Music Box Theatre December 4, 2016, with Ben Platt in the title role. The show won six 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
