The Signature Theatre opened Fucking A by Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks September 11 in the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre. The production, directed by Obie Award winner Jo Bonney, is the first in Parks’ Red Letter Plays, two plays which re-imagine Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel The Scarlet Letter.
Starring Brandon Victor Dixon and Marc Kudish, Fucking A sees Hester Smith, a revered and reviled abortionist, formulate a plan to free her son from prison.
