Sakina’s Restaurant, a solo play written by and starring former Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi, will begin performances at the Minetta Lane Theatre October 5. The original production, which debuted in New York 20 years ago, won Mandvi an Obie Award in 1999.
The return engagement of Sakina’s Restaurant, directed by Kimberly Senior, is scheduled to run through November 4.

Sakina’s Restaurant tells the story of an Indian immigrant who comes to New York to work at a restaurant and live the American dream. The revival is part of Audible’s production series at the Minetta Lane, which also features works by Patti Smith, Isaac Gomez, and Chisa Hutchinson.
