Chicago-based Samantha Pauly, who will be seen in the Chicago Shakespeare Theater production of the new musical Six, will make her U.K. debut this summer in the title role of the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre staging of Evita. Jamie Lloyd will direct the production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical, which will be presented August 2–September 21.
Pauly will be joined by Ektor Rivera (Emilio Estefan in On Your Feet! on Broadway and U.S. tour) as Juan Peron, Trent Saunders (Aladdin) as Che, and Olivier nominee Frances Mayli McCann (Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour) as the Mistress.
The creative team also includes designer Soutra Gilmour, choreographer Fabian Aloise, musical supervisor Alan Williams, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer Nick Lidster for Autograph, and associate director of voice and text Barbara Houseman. U.K. casting is by Will Burton CDG for DGA, with U.S. casting by Tara Rubin Casting.

Meanwhile, Jesus Christ Superstar, which won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical, will play a limited 60-performance run at the Barbican Theatre July 4–August 24. The Lloyd Webber and Rice musical previously played two sell-out seasons at the Open Air Theatre before transferring to the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 2018. It will embark on a North American tour in October.
The new cast for the Timothy Sheader-directed production includes Robert Tripolino and Ricardo Afonso in the roles of Jesus and Judas, respectively, with Sallay Garnett as Mary, Matt Cardle as Pilate, Cavin Cornwall as Caiaphas, and Nathan Amzi as Annas.
Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar are produced by William Village and Timothy Sheader for Regent’s Park Theatre Ltd. by special arrangement with The Really Useful Group Limited.
