Pose, the latest TV project from Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, has been picked up for a full series order by FX, according to Deadline.
Set during the golden age of New York City’s LGBTQ ball culture scene in the late 1980s, Pose is set to begin shooting in New York City this February, with a premiere set for summer 2018 on FX. Ballroom legends and survivors served as consultants.

The highly anticipated series made history before shooting began, casting five transgender actors of color as series regulars—the highest number on television yet for a scripted series.
Among the history-making actors are a number of theatre artists including MJ Rodriguez (Street Children), Dominique Jackson (Incongruence), and Hailie Sahar (Charm), as well asIndya Moore, and Angelica Ross. Also cast are newcomers Ryan Jamaal Swain and Dyllon Burnside.

The cast also features Tony Award-winning Kinky Boots star Billy Porter, and Charlayne Woodard (The Leftovers), who is a new addition to the cast. Woodard replaces Tatiana Maslany, who was originally cast in the project. Since initial casting was announced, Murphy and his collaborators have reconceived and rewritten the role as a 50-year-old African-American woman.
Pose was written by Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Steven Canals. Murphy directed the first two episodes. Also on board are trans pioneers Janet Mock and Our Lady J, who are among the show’s producers. Our Lady J is a writer and producer on Amazon’s award-winning series Transparent.
