Playwright-director Robert O'Hara (Barbecue), along with Tony-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath (A Doll's House, Part 2), will be joined by Tony-nominated director Leigh Silverman and Playwrights Realm Associate Artistic Director Alexis Williams for a free discussion on "The State of the Play" at Signature Theatre on March 18.
The discussion will focus on writers thinking beyond traditional ideas of story, structure, and representation while tackling the questions, "With so many writers actively changing the landscape of theatre, how do we talk about the form as a whole? Can these trends be easily categorized, or do we find ourselves in new and uncharted territory?"
Presented by Signature and American Theatre Magazine, the free event will be held in the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theater at The Pershing Square Signature Center at 7 PM. The theatre company's library manager, Jenna Clark Embrey, will moderate.
