Playbill Universe Read Reviews for The Golden Apple at Encores! Performances began at New York City Center May 10.

A number of stage favorites take part in the Encores! presentation of The Golden Apple, running May 10–14 at New York City Center. The cast includes Lindsay Mendez, Ryan Silverman, Ashley Brown, Alli Mauzey, Jeff Blumenkrantz, and Carrie Compere. Michael Berresse directs.

Mendez plays Helen, with Silverman (Side Show) as Ulysses, Brown (Mary Poppins) as Mrs. Juniper/Madame Calypso, Mauzey (Wicked) as Miss Minerva Oliver/The Scientist, Blumenkrantz (Bright Star) as Menelaus/Scylla, and Compere (The Color Purple) as Lovely Mars/The Siren. The cast also includes Mikaela Bennett as Penelope, Jason Kravits as Menelaus/Scylla, N’Kenge as Mother Hare, and Rasta Thomas as Paris.

Howell, Donald Jones Jr., Andrea Jones-Sojola, Naomi Kakuk, Evan Kasprzak, Reed Kelly, Bruce Landry, Quentin Oliver Lee, Brandon Leffler, Michael X. Martin, Skye Mattox, Sarah Meahl, Justin Prescott, Lindsay Roberts, Sarrah Strimel, Joseph Torello, Kathy Voytko, and Nicholas Ward.

Joshua Bergasse choreographs the concert staging, which features musical direction by Rob Berman.

The 1954 musical by Jerome Moross and John Latouche is inspired by selections of Homer’s Greek epic poems the Iliad and the Odyssey. Despite receiving favorable reviews, the original production ran for only 125 performances at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon).
