Patricia Ione Lloyd's new play Eve's Song officially opened at The Public Theater November 7 in a world-premiere production directed by Jo Bonney. In the new drama, the weight of the outside world finds its way into a Black family's home, blurring the lines between family dynamics, politics, and the spirit world.
Leading the cast is De’Adre Aziza as Deborah, a mother who is trying to keep things normal despite a messy divorce, her daughter coming out as queer, and the killing of unarmed Black men outside her home.
Completing the cast of the world premiere are Karl Green as Mark, Ashley D. Kelley as Upendo, Vernice Miller as Spirit Woman, Kadijah Raquel as Lauren, Rachel Watson-Jih as Spirit Woman, and Tamara M. Williams as Spirit Woman.

Performances of Eve's Song began October 21 and continue through December 9.
